Shreveport Bar Announces Training Seminar for Attorney Volunteers

Shreveport Bar AssociationExecutive Director Patti Guin has announced that the Shreveport Bar Association is scheduling a seminar next week for local volunteer attorneys to attend to receive training on how to help the Katrina victims who are currently residing in shelters in Shreveport to fill out FEMA and Red Cross disaster assistance forms.

The seminar will take place some time next week (tentative dates are either Tuesday, September 13 or Thursday, September 15) from 10:00 to 12:00 noon in the Third Floor Conference Room of the LSU-S Library.

Ruth Moore, Executive Director of the Northwest Louisiana Pro Bono Project, is in charge of soliciting and coordinating the training for the volunteers. All SBA members are encouraged to participate. Right now, Patti is trying to determine how many attorneys are interested in attending the seminar and volunteering their services to help Katrina victims fill out disaster relief forms. Paralegals and other staff members are welcome to participate.
